The thought of turning 50 has had me filled with a sense of dread. Time feels like it speeds up during this stage of life and suddenly I feel extremely aware of my fragile mortality, and have a sense of nostalgia for days gone by.
I'm no longer the girl who can turn heads, but rather, I've become invisible and forgettable.
All it takes is a good nights sleep to give me a sore neck in the morning and the menopause has me in a choke hold with her gnarly fingers digging into me.
With my best years behind me, it's easy to feel a little sorry for myself. Which is another good reason to have a ridiculist. After all, if I'm as invisible as I have come to believe, no-one will notice as I hot flash my way through each goal.
It's my life, by Bon Jovi (the best band ever) is the perfect theme song for this year, and every year. I'm gonna own turning 50, because I've worked hard to get here.
It's time to pull up my big girl panties, (and they ARE big these days) slip on my bifocals and get to enjoying a stage in life that so many are denied.
