Ellen
Today I wrote to Ellen DeGeneres and asked for her help with my Ridiculist. I know, long shot, right? But I won't know if I don't try. After all, 2019 is all about putting myself out there, enjoying the crazy and making a difference. The worst thing that could happen is I don't hear back.
So why Ellen? Because she's freakin awesome, that's why. Actually it's not why, although the statement is true. If any of you have seen her Netflix special, Relatable, there was a part of her show where she talked about the consequences she faced when she 'came out'. Even though the show was considered stand up comedy, in that brief moment of vulnerability, I felt heartbroken for what she dealt with. She also shared how she got into comedy, and I was amazed by her tenacity, courage, strength and determination to be her unapologetic self.
After 50 years on this planet, I'm still overly concerned with what everyone thinks of me, lacking in confidence and always needing acceptance to feel like I matter. I want to enjoy the next 50 years being unapologetically ME.
