Ali Baker

I hope you're dancing in the sky

Ever so often, you meet a soul that instantly touches your life. Ali was one of those kindred souls. We met her in the middle of the night at Chito Beach, where she greeted us with her warm smile, and showed us to our cabin.
From that moment on, Ali mothered and watched out for us. She would check to make sure we were safe when she knew we were hiking advanced trails, provide medical support for the many accidents I would have, knock on our cabin to let us know when the whales were hanging out along the coastline, and sit by the fire pit and watch the space station go by.
Ali's wonderful smile, her love for life, big warm hugs and witty comebacks would make my day.
I was heartbroken to hear of Ali's passing last week, and I've shed more tears that she would want me to. You don't always know a persons impact on your life until they leave this life, and boy, did Ali have an impact on mine. She radiated kindness, was down to earth and laughed freely.
There is no greater compliment I could give, than to say, I want to be just like her.
I am so grateful to have know Ali and I look forward to sitting around a camp fire on the other side and sharing more stories. Til then, know that you will be sorely missed.
